In honor of Disability Pride Month, I wanted to share a story of why I created Fantasy Fitness, what Every Legend Trains Differently truly means, why we built the Choose Your Calling Adventure beginning next month.
This is a reflection of everything I have experienced, everything I have questioned, and everything I believe needs to change about the way we approach health and wellness. And I want to start by saying this clearly: I did not create Fantasy Fitness because I believe I have found the perfect answer.
I am not here to tell anyone that I have all the solutions, that I know the one right way to heal, or that I have somehow escaped every system I critique. I am still learning. I am still growing. I am still a person navigating my own body, my own experiences, and my own story.
I created Fantasy Fitness because I experienced what happens when humans are reduced to problems to solve instead of whole people to understand.
Many of the systems we have inherited were built around separation, extraction, and correction rather than relationship, prevention, and care. We cannot create a healthier world without questioning the foundations those systems were built on.
We have to be honest about what systems are currently in place, what they are designed to do, who they were designed for, and who has been left behind.
Systems Don't See Whole Humans
For much of my life, I learned firsthand what happens when systems are designed to categorize people instead of understand them.

I have sat across from providers who had credentials on the wall but could not spell my own diagnosis, let alone explain it back to me. I have experienced being dismissed, misunderstood, and left feeling like I had to become the expert on my own body just to even try to be taken seriously.
I was given labels, limitations, and predictions about what my future would look like before anyone truly understood my experience. I was told my body would limit me, and I would never be able to do certain things. I was told what my body could not do before someone took the time to understand what it needed.
I was told asthma and allergies would keep me from cardio. I was told I would not be able to lift more than five pounds. I was told scoliosis would always define my physical abilities and that surgery was the only path forward.
I have been told I am 'overweight' when I feel healthy, and that I am 'looking better' when I am underweight and not nourishing myself. I have experienced pain, fear, medical uncertainty, and the emotional weight that comes with feeling like your body is constantly being misunderstood. I have experienced medical trauma, misdiagnosis, and the exhaustion of searching for someone who would actually listen.
And while I have also met incredible practitioners who listened, collaborated, and reminded me what compassionate care could look like, those experiences showed me how much needs to change.
My journey taught me that health cannot only be about reacting after something goes wrong. Health has to include prevention, education, environment, nourishment, movement, relationships, and the daily choices that shape the quality of our lives.

It requires us to ask different questions.
Not just: “How do we treat this symptom?”
But: “Why did we create a world where so many people are disconnected from what their bodies, communities, and environments need to thrive?”
Because the truth is, many people are taught from a young age that anything outside the 'norm' (euro-centric standards) are 'bad' whether that is our body, mind, or soul.
A mind with limitations needs to be 'fixed'.
A body that needs accommodations is inconvenient.
A soul that does not fit the standard is something to reject.
Reimagining Wellness
This belief system impacts the way we see ourselves, the way we care for ourselves, and the way we build communities. Fantasy Fitness, The Order of Legends, and the Legends Nexus app were created because I wanted to build something different.
I wanted to create a space where every person could exist as their full, multidimensional self. Because humans are not one skill tree.
You should not have to choose between strength and softness, martial arts and embroidery, or physical training and mindfulness. Nor between nourishment, creativity, storytelling, movement, healing, or connection.
All parts of life matter.
Building The Order Differently
I see many fantasy, bookish, and nerd communities creating incredible spaces, but I also noticed that many of these spaces still reflect the same systems we are trying to challenge in the stories we love.
Even spaces built around fantasy and rebellion can accidentally recreate the same systems we are trying to escape when they center individual achievement, perfection, appearance, and hierarchy instead of collective care, accessibility, and whole-person wellness.
I did not want to create another space the founder becomes the ruler of their own little kingdom— becoming the expert, the authority, the person at the top. Because, legends are not created alone, and no single person holds every piece of wisdom needed for the journey.
Fantasy Fitness, the Nexus, and The Order were created around the belief that knowledge grows when it is shared. A martial artist may teach one lesson. A nutrition educator may teach another. An artist may unlock creativity. A storyteller may help someone see themselves differently.

I did not build this because I became the answer. I built this because the world is missing spaces where many answers, many cultures, many disciplines, and many lived experiences could exist together.
Because, the goal was never to create another place where people chase status, likes, or validation. The goal was to create a place where we learn how to care for ourselves, each other, and the world around us.
That is what true rebellion looks like.
Not showing that we can always go go go, to prove we are strong. Not forcing our bodies into systems that were never designed for everyone. And DEFINITEY not chasing impossible standards created by systems that profit from people feeling like they are not enough and they have to do more.
The rebellion is choosing to understand YOUR body, mind, and soul.
Choosing what health means for your story. Choosing movement because it brings you joy, strength, confidence, connection, and freedom. And building a life where you are not training to go to war, but training to be part of peace.
We need a wider understanding of knowledge. We have narrowed our definition of what counts as creditable based on what can be measured, sold, standardized, or profitable.
But humans have been developing practices of healing, movement, connection, and wisdom for thousands of years. Modern wellness did not invent caring for the human experience.
Ask yourself this:
What knowledge have we ignored because it did not come from modern institutions?
What practices have we dismissed because they were not profitable?
What relationships with land, food, movement, community, and care did we lose as spoken word become 'uncreditable'?
What would happen if we listened again?
The communities we often look toward for wisdom did not separate the body from the mind, the individual from the community, or humans from the natural world. They understood that wellness was a relationship, not a product.
Some of the lessons we are rediscovering through modern research are lessons many cultures have carried for generations: connection to nature, movement woven into daily life, nourishing foods, community care, purpose, and belonging are not luxuries.

They are foundational parts of human health. This is why Fantasy Fitness draws inspiration from many traditions that have shaped the way humans understand movement and wellness.
From Japanese and Chinese martial arts traditions, to yoga practices that trace
back thousands of years through the Indus Valley Civilization, to dance traditions rooted in African ancestry and storytelling.
We honor and appreicate the cultures that taught these practices by learning from them, respecting their origins, and sharing them through a lens that celebrates the people, communities, and histories behind them.
We explore these teachings through books from authors with lived experiences and through stories with meaningful representation, because stories shape how we understand ourselves and each other.
8 Realms, 12 Crafts & 1 Whole Person
This is also why Fantasy Fitness is not just about physical strength. The Eight Realms of Wellness exist because humans are not only bodies. We are emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual. We exist within environments, careers, communities, and financial realities.
We created the Twelve Crafts of the Order because growth is not one-dimensional. Each Craft represents a different way we build ourselves, care for ourselves, and connect with the world around us:

Hearthcraft — nourishment and care.
Bendcraft — recovery and mobility.
Warcraft — combat and defense strategy.
Willcraft — endurance and will power.
Bodycraft — strength and physical capability.
Bondcraft — connection and community.
Armscraft — weapon skills and discipline.
Voicecraft — expression and communication.
Wisecraft — curiosity and knowledge acquisition.
Musecraft — creativity and imagination.
Mindcraft — mindfulness and awareness.
Guidecraft — mentorship and sharing knowledge.
Every realm is another part of your Health Bar. Every craft is another way to get Health Points (HP) through experience, confidence, and connection.
Choosing Your Calling
This is why Choose Your Calling exists. Every legend reaches a moment when preparation becomes action. Not every path will look the same, and it is not supposed to.

Choose Your Calling is a 12-week guided adventure where you choose the path (program) with the Archetype Calling that fits the season you are in. Then work to build sustainable habits, meaningful skills, and lasting confidence alongside a community of fellow legends.
Choose YOUR Calling:
Valkyrie — forge discipline, endurance, and courage through sword & shield combat, stair challenges, bodyweight streng
th, HIIT, and gut health quests.
Healer — restore, nourish, and care for yourself through whole-food education and reducing processed foods.
Dragon Rider — develop steady strength + resilience through meal prep, breathwork, gentle movement, cardio conditioning, + barbell training.
Shifter — sharpen durability and adaptability through core training for stability and functional strength.
Phoenix — rise through transformation and renewal with fat-loss foundations, cooking skills, and food preparation.
Witch — awaken intentional strength and power through dumbbell and resistance band training.
Whatever path you choose, each Archetype Calling offers a different way to grow, connect, and become the legend of your own story. There is not one perfect path, there is only the path that fits the season you are in. Because...
That has always been the heart of Fantasy Fitness. I built this for the people who have been told they are too much, not enough, too complicated, too different, too broken, or too difficult to understand. For the people navigating disability, chronic pain, trauma, oppression, mental health challenges, identity, recovery, rebuilding, or simply trying to understand themselves.
You are not behind. Your experiences matter and your pace is still progress. Your strength is not measured by how closely you resemble someone else’s journey, and you know that. You are the expert of your own lived experience and you deserve to be listened to. You deserve a space where you belong.
And that is why we say: Every legend trains differently.
Your journey starts wherever you are.
Join the Legends Nexus app and discover your path through guided training programs, wellness resources, recipes, challenges, and a community of legends training alongside you.
